Open House date: May 30th

Dear All,
 
This is to announce that the iEARN-Qatar Open House showcasing the iEARN-Qatar 2008-2009 projects will take place on Saturday 30th of May in the afternoon. The initial date was June 6th but needed to be moved due to exams starting on June 7th in many of the participating schools.
 
What is the Open House?
You and your students (a selected number) will need to be at your booth to present your projects and answer questions of the guests.
You will have part of your work displayed including your own professional development portfolio, student outcomes throughout the different stages of the project. You can run a PowerPoint, video, display essays and art work – it is up to you.
People will circulate around the venue watching the PowerPoint, reading the essays, looking at the artwork, talking to students and talking to you about your work and your experience. You should prepare the students so that they can discuss their work and answer questions as necessary.
 
Program for the Open House Day
- Morning: Event preparation: Preparation and installation of the stands, rehearsal of the afternoon event for teachers and students.
- Lunch will be provided for all students and teachers.
- Afternoon (from 3:00 to 6:00pm to be confirmed): Guests start arriving and visit the stands, official opening and speeches, certificate Presentation to each group of teachers and students.
 
Event Organization:
The Event will be held at the Education City (the exact location will be announced later and if needed a visit will be organized).
There will be one stand for each project (group of teachers and students working on the same project). Each project (Teacher or group of teachers) will have the following space to present their project.
  • Board to post pictures, show PowerPoint, etc. (The display surface will be communicated later). If you are planning to do a PowerPoint presentation you will have to provide the laptop and the LCD projector, the board will/ can be used as a screen.
  • One Table to display your work.
 
You are requested to confirm that you will have a stand at the Open House event at the latest on May 5th by sending a confirmation email to iearn@rotaknowledgenet.org

Reduce size of PowerPoint Files

Hi Lara,

I hope everything else is doing well.

This happens often when you insert pictures or sound in your PowerPoint presentation.

What you can do is:
- If you have sound, remove it and check the size of your PowerPoint file.
- If you have pictures you need to reduce the size of the pictures. This is what you can try:
1) Open the PowerPoint presentation and right click on one of the picture and select Format Picture
2) Select the Picture Tab and click on Compress
3) Select All Pictures in document and Web/Screen and check the 2 boxes under Options, click on OK.
4) Click OK again and save your File and check the file size, it should be smaller.

Please let me know if this is working, if not you can try to send it by email or send us your presentation on a CD; will can then have a look at it.

Please i have a problem in my portfolio if i want to edit; one message ; internet explorer that there is encountered a problem and need to close, i tried may times today so i couldnot to edit any.
Please help me in this problem. and what should i do?
